The Riverside is a world class sporting and music venue which regularly attracts visitors from all over the world. The Riverside Complex, which in addition to being, the home of Durham County Cricket Club, includes Austin’s Bar and Bistro which is open all year round and a Playing for Success Learning Centre which is located on the ground floor of the Media and Education Centre.
In 2006, over 16,000 music fans poured into the Riverside in June to enjoy a spectacular performance from superstar Elton John, other performers to appear at the Riverside include operatic star Lesley Garrett, jazz sensation Jamie Cullum and reggae band UB40.
In 2009 the Riverside will play host to the music weekend - James Morrison and Sugababes will in July as part of a weekend of outdoor musical performances. Sugababes, with their show stopping live act, will delight fans on Friday 10 July and after a sell out UK tour James Morrison will perform on Sunday 12 July.
The Riverside also has fabulous Meeting and Events facilities, which can cater for up to 300 guests and is the perfect venue for any business meetings or any of life’s special occasions.
