The National Railway Museum tells the story of the railways through a national collection of railway artefacts, images and records.
Home to over 70 railway vehicles from the national collection with lively interactive displays relating to the development of the railways in Shildon.
The museum’s facilities include a collections centre which contains seven tracks and is capable of housing up to seventy vehicles. This exciting visitor attraction has been granted National status.
The Platform 7 Café, is open daily and serves light lunches and refreshments.
Try the delicious Royal George Sausages, and even purchase a few to enjoy at home.
There’s something for everyone in the Gift Shop, which offers a wide range of souvenirs and gifts. For railway enthusiasts, there’s a comprehensive selection of videos and books.
Younger visitors will enjoy browsing through our wide range of Thomas the Tank Engine merchandise, including Take Along Thomas trains, playsets and accessories.
